Reflection of Ethnomathematics February, 27th 2013.



1.      Brigita
a.       Does ethnomathematics effective for abstract mathematics learning like linear algebra, integral and how  does it apply?
Answer:
Everthing has dimension, different people, levels, food also has dimesion from food of air, food of water. Therefore, ethnomathematics is mathematics that extracted from the mathematical elements of culture. Then its created, found the formal mathematics. Pure mathematician, deductive mathematics, abstract mathematics, etc is the mathematics in college degree. At least by take frame of my mind, we can build mathematics that far from culture context. Mathematics is for mathematics, mathematics isn’t deductive sains, etc.
So, what is the realitionship with ethnomathematics? Left far behind. Why? Because mathematics is abstract. So mathematics axiom is formal mathematics, pure mathematics. Mathematics axiom build base on :
First, if need agreement with other, if you state that you build this by yourself, then you not need other but from my heart.
What  is UGM mathematician do? They are a reseacher in math. The problem is mathematics learning if the mathematics learning for students and researcher are same. Then we lower the dimension to be Senior High School. Senior High School is the limits, ten grade still have Junior High School character. In Junior High School their character have seen. Getting down, more concrete, more real then it shall apply realistic mathematics theory.
The lower of realistic mathematics based on concrete mathematic, concrete model, formal model and formal mathematics. Thus, the student who study just scared and depressed at the teacher, will slowly lose his intuition. Then the learning problem came from parents. So the problem comes from the child's parents and the problems derived from student teachers. So to answer whether ethnomathematics efectif for learning abstract mathematics that is, a limit to how much can be applied question-was followed by small research. How far ethnomathematics relevan in mathematics learning.
b.      What is the weakness  and the advantages of ethnomathematics on implementation of innovative learning?
Answer:
I think your question is very normative or questions imposed. When asked about the advantages and disadvantages, this is easy. But, what is its relevance to what you think. In logic, the people who want to implement innovative student-centered learning, students as actors then develop the variety of teaching materials and methods or sources of learning ethnomathematics. If we only obey the curriculum, what is the importance of learning resources or variations. And this depends on the government, is only required to implement or accompanied only by variety.

a.       How to introduce ethnomathematics to students?
Answer :
This question is also highly normative and beyond our intuition. Ethnomathematics is what kaitannnya with students? Students do not have anything to do with ethnomathematics.
b.      What is the different of between divergen, convergen, assimilation and trasformation of learning style?
Answer :

a.       Is the teacher may determine the student's learning style?
Answer :
Honestly, this is the thinking that comes from our grandmothers. Arrogance to impose something on others. We see our relationship with the young, relationship of parents or adults with the young  or relationships with people in power who ruled also dimensionless. Most high level mother’s violence or cruelty is who kills her child because of disability. We lower the level until the most nobel that parents can be do are praying for the young people, to serve the needs, giving needs.
Teachers that identify students' learning styles in my opinion is bad. Since this vanity or arrogance of those in power, the parents. Just because he's a teacher, he was ordering others to be like him. And young people of all sorts, even if they follow, the parent or teacher can not control them. Rather than that, we increase the level of kindness between parents and young people. So with sensitivity and tenderness, if we know the theory, following silahturahmi, lecturing will be sensifitive and soft.
The behavior of teachers towards students tend to be very arrogant, rude, vulgar, then the younger generation will have same result, for example, conflict, etc. Traditional learning, where students are considered empty barrel and regard the teacher as the only source was very cruel. So it is the student's learning style. So students and your life, learning was also changing and creative, dynamic and flexible. Good learning is learning that changes, no-that's it.
b.      How does teachers treat students' desire to learn math in a different way?
Answer :
What harm if there are different students? What teachers feel aggrieved? Supposedly if there are different students should be encouraged. Th problem is since teachers still implement the traditional learning methods, the teacher would not have been able to serve the needs of diverse students when using traditional learning. Instead it takes awareness, if there are 40 students that there will be 40 different learning styles.

a.       Is formal education has a great impact on a person's quality?
Answer :
Domain of formal education is required? Here you include a unique and original concept of formal education. There are international figures who oppose formal education because formal education is used for the benefit of the rulers. Then there is the concept of a liberating education. This means that innovative learning frees us from the tyranny of teachers. Hence the importance of lesson study lecturer / teacher will be open-minded. Answer :

Learning is an innovative way of teaching varius includes various methods, various resources, various interaction. Various methods all kinds of methods applied are roughly correct, reflection, discussion, presentation, task online. Various interaction that is classical, small classes, individual and then various resources, that's right. Relation to high school, high school actually was an age of transition. During this period the role of teachers to be creative, take the example of the varied, concrete and abstract. According pscychology, in times of high school kids start to adulthood.
